The Knapp and Papermill // Worcestershire

The noise and the quiet. Somewhere a pine tree is being felled. Old industry. And rest. All of this is a memory. A meadow. A living meadow I can lie in.
The Knapp and Papermill is a nature reserve in Worcestershire, on the site of a former mill and dwelling place. Some of the buildings remain, boarded up and abandoned whilst the meadows and woodlands mature and grow; the power of nature rewilding over time.
In this poetry film, the reserve is explored in a cyclical way, connecting family and memory to the turn of the seasons and the years. The film is shot from a low angle, lying in the grasses the way a child might. The words are presented as a palindrome poem, repeating itself as words that rise and fall in the air, mimicking a murmuration.
I created two versions of this poetry film; a 2D presentation (shown here) and a 360-degree immersive experience (shown at the end of this collection).
